I offer personal, non-religious funeral, memorial, and pet farewell ceremonies across Brighton and Sussex. With calm guidance and care, I help families create meaningful and respectful goodbyes.

A humanist funeral often takes place in a local crematorium, or at a woodland natural burial site or in a local cemetery.
Some families prefer to have the ceremony at their home or some other suitable venue followed by a brief committal ceremony at the crematorium. Others prefer to have a private cremation, followed by a celebration of the deceased’s life at a memorial ceremony or scattering of ashes. We can work together to create the ceremony that suits you.
If you are holding the funeral in a crematorium or cemetery then you will be limited to time and myself or the funeral director can advise you on this.

I will listen carefully to help you create a ceremony that places the wishes of the deceased person, their family, and friends at its heart. Providing an opportunity to hear and tell the stories of someone’s life, where families and friends collectively bear witness, offer comfort to each other and say farewell. A ceremony that may include: a range of emotions including tears, nods of recognition, laughter, and sometimes unexpected cheer from learning new insights about the person’s life. We can also discuss music, readings and rituals as part of the celebration and to help mourners manage their feelings.

I also offer ceremonies to mark the loss of a much-loved pet, recognising the depth of the bond you shared. Grief for an animal companion is real and deserves to be acknowledged with compassion. Across Sussex, I help create gentle, meaningful farewells that honour their life and the place they held in your heart. Link to Website

1. Initial conversation
We begin with a relaxed conversation, where I listen carefully and learn about the person you have lost and what matters most to you.
2. Creating the ceremony
I work with you to shape a personal ceremony, including readings, music, and memories, creating something that truly reflects their life.
3. The day itself
I lead the ceremony with calm guidance and quiet confidence, allowing space for reflection, emotion, and a meaningful farewell.

I am based in Brighton and work across Sussex and the surrounding areas. Ceremonies can take place at local crematoria, natural burial grounds, or other meaningful locations. If you are unsure about the setting, I am always happy to guide you through the options and help you find what feels right.
If you’d like to talk things through, please get in touch. I’m here to listen and help in any way I can.
